FAQs
How often should my piano be tuned?
Most manufacturers recommend a piano be serviced every six months. Seasonal changes, many hours of play, or significant changes in temperature and humidity all affect tuning stability, meaning your piano may need to be serviced more frequently.
Something's not working right on my piano. Can you fix it?
Our team handles everything from broken strings, sticky keys, worn parts, bench adjustments, and finish touch-ups, to annoying squeaks!
How long does a tuning take?
A typical tuning session lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your piano’s condition.
Even after my piano has been professionally tuned, it sounds too harsh. Can this be resolved?
Worn, grooved hammers, old strings, diminished curvature or crown in the soundboard--even a piano's placement in the room--all affect a piano's tone. All else being equal, the sound of a good quality piano can, in most circumstances, be altered to suit one's personal tastes. We will work closely with you to ensure voicing work is tailored to your specific preferences. Your complete satisfaction is our highest priority.
Do you service spinets?
A spinet is a compact type of upright piano featuring a drop action. Manufactured for the masses and affordability, production peaked during the post WWII era. Difficult to tune with inferior sound quality and poor dynamic control, spare parts availability is also severely limited, making spinet maintenance both labor-intensive and costly. For these reasons, we no longer service them except for existing clients.
What areas do you serve?
We maintain acoustic pianos of all kinds in Utah throughout Davis, Salt Lake, Utah, and Wasatch counties. We also serve Uinta County in Wyoming. Please call us to learn more.
