FAQs

How often should my piano be tuned?

Most manufacturers recommend a piano be serviced every six months. Seasonal changes, many hours of play, or significant changes in temperature and humidity all affect tuning stability, meaning your piano may need to be serviced more frequently.

Something's not working right on my piano. Can you fix it?

Our team handles everything from broken strings, sticky keys, worn parts, bench adjustments, and finish touch-ups, to annoying squeaks!

How long does a tuning take?

A typical tuning session lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your piano’s condition.

Even after my piano has been professionally tuned, it sounds too harsh. Can this be resolved?

Worn, grooved hammers, old strings--even a room's acoustical properties--can all affect the tone of an instrument. All else being equal, the sound of a good quality piano can, in most circumstances, be altered to suit one's personal tastes. We will work closely with you to ensure any voicing and related work is tailored to your specific preferences.

Do you service spinets?

A spinet is a compact type of upright piano featuring a drop action. While manufactured primarily for affordability, production peaked during the post WWII era. Difficult to tune, with limited or inferior sound quality and poor dynamic control, spare parts are difficult if not impossible to procure, making servicing of such instruments labor-intensive and costly. For these reasons, we no longer service spinets except for existing clients.

What areas do you serve?

We maintain pianos of all kinds throughout Davis, Salt Lake, Wasatch, Uinta, and Utah counties.
